Dev Chat AI Enablement Guide

Helping Partners Use the DoorDash Developer Chat Assistant

Overview

Dev Chat AI is a built-in support tool in the Developer Portal that helps integration partners quickly answer technical questions, troubleshoot errors, and understand API behavior. It complements our documentation and reduces onboarding time by providing instant, contextual guidance.

This enablement guide explains how to use Dev Chat AI effectively, what types of questions it can answer, and when to escalate to support.

Get Started With Dev Chat AI

Locate the Assistant

In the Developer Portal, click the Assistant icon located in the upper right corner.

You can immediately:

  • Ask a question
  • Select a suggested prompt
  • View relevant documentation snippets directly in the chat

What the Assistant Can Do

Use Dev Chat AI to:

  • Understand event flows and callback usage
  • Troubleshoot integration errors
  • Request navigation to documentation pages
  • Clarify setup or onboarding requirements
The assistant pulls answers directly from verified DoorDash documentation—responses are always sourced.

Asking the Right Questions

To get the best results, ask complete questions that include integration context.

What is an example payload for {API} in {line-of-business}?

Examples:

  • “Can you give me a Drive parcel delivery order payload?”
  • “How do I set up self-delivery for Marketplace Retail?”
  • “What callback should I send when orders are ready for pickup?”

Pro Tip

If your question applies to multiple business lines, the assistant will ask for clarification automatically.

LOB Contextualization

The assistant detects when a question needs business-line context and prompts you accordingly.

When prompted, specify:

  • Drive (Delivery Fulfillment)
  • Marketplace Restaurant
  • Marketplace Retail
  • Reporting API

This ensures the assistant serves the correct:

  • Payloads
  • Event requirements
  • Setup steps
  • Error troubleshooting guidance

You may be guided to:

  1. Open Support in the Developer Portal

  4. Provide a description
  5. Click Submit Request

Production and credential actions always require manual approval.

Urgent Questions
