SMS

SMS notifications are strongly recommended, as they meaningfully improve first-attempt success and reduce undeliverable shipments.

Accurate and timely notifications:

  • Improve first-attempt delivery success
  • Reduce undeliverable or delayed parcels
  • Allow Dashers and recipients to exchange critical delivery details
  • Enable customers to update instructions in real time (gate codes, apartment numbers, special notes)

These capabilities directly impact end-customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.


SMS Notifications (Highly Recommended)

SMS messages are triggered by key delivery lifecycle events, such as:

  • Dasher confirming they are en route
  • Requests for additional delivery instructions
  • Delivery completion

Requirements for SMS

To enable SMS notifications:

  • Provide a valid mobile dropoff_phone_number

  • Format must follow E.164

    +16505555555

  • Coordinate activation with DashLink during onboarding

  • Ensure your customer-facing flows encourage phone number accuracy


SMS Configuration Notes

Keep “Dasher Confirmed” SMS OFF

Dasher confirmed SMS should remain off as it will retrigger on redelivery attempts.

This avoids duplicate or misleading messages.


Keep “Customer Unavailable" SMS OFF

Customer unavailable SMS should remain off as it does not make sense for the Parcel delivery use case.
