Tracking Links & Pages
DashLink provides a consistent, predictable tracking link structure that enables merchants to embed tracking in emails, text messages, and customer portals.
Tracking link structure
The tracking URL follows a predictable syntax:
https://www.doordash.com/orders/drive?trackingNumber={external_delivery_id}
Examples from the PDFs:
https://www.doordash.com/orders/drive?trackingNumber=DDVMBNMLCRX03B6I9https://www.doordash.com/orders/drive?trackingNumber=DDVXXGRZTQGYSJCUD
Tracking URLs are deterministic — once you know the tracking number, you can construct the link yourself.
What customers can do on the tracking page
1. View delivery progress
Customers see an updated timeline that corresponds to webhook events:
- Labeled
- Scanned
- Picked up
- Delivery attempted
- Delivered
2. Update delivery instructions
The tracking page allows edits to:
- Gate codes
- Building numbers
- Apartment / suite numbers
- Special instructions
This increases delivery success and reduces undeliverable events.
3. See proof-of-delivery images
After the dasher completes the delivery:
- A verification photo is displayed
- URL is valid for 7 days
Recommendations for merchants
- Always include tracking URLs in customer communications (SMS, email, order confirmation pages)
- Store tracking URL in your database for support workflows
